My good mad monk, try 7-25-74

The wall of sound transformed that funky sounding, funky smelling Chicago Stockyards Exhibition Hall - aka the International Amphitheater - into one sweet studio sounding space. Check out the Dark Star -> Stella Blue for some lovely sounds in that sow's ear of a hall - remarkable.

Seems like you've plugged this show at least a couple times lately. I'll have to give this a listen soon, thanks duckpond

todays lesson is the WOS. Conceptioally it was the fore runner of all the hanging systems you see today which are called LINE ARRAYS. Now the specific problem of the COW PALACE show was that it was basically a sound test that you paid for. They charged $2.50 a ticket no kidding and seeing it was impressive. Trouble was things were out of phase ,some instruments were louder than others and it was just not show ready. They did make a go of it w/ the usuall
2sets but the all that could be AND WAS IRONED OUT. The true reason was logistics, they needed leapfrogging systems to be setup/bkdw and it just became aboondogle. Now
I've heard the new HDCD remix and cleaned up show and that's what it should of sounded like. Also the show prior to the CowPalace they blew out the entire center tweeter array.ALL said if they did not have to move it that would've
been the most powerful sound system in the world. I believe they used 3-mac2500amps and89-mac2300 amps for both p.a. power and instuments.
